- Tight Aggressive Players:Tricky - Hard to get a read on.
- Tight Passive Players: Rock - Usually play a solid game with minimal mistakes.
- Loose Aggressive Players: Maniac - These players are all over the place and reckless.
- Loose Passive Players: Calling Station - These people always call a lot and don't know when they should fold.

Players can also be classified as donkeys, fish or sharks. Basically, these classifications describe a players skill level and experience, which can be used both positively and negatively. If a player labels another player on the table as one of these, then it is usually negative- and, seen as bad poker etiquette. In more detail:

- Fish: They have a general idea about the game, but make a lot of bad mistakes.
